Now, multiply 1 by 3 and write the answer here (below the digit that we are dividing, so we will write it below the 5). Subtract 3 from 5 to get 2 (place the 2 directly below the 3).

Bring a copy of the next digit down right beside the remainder, which is 2.
Now, divide the number 22 by the number 3.
How many 3s go into 22? We can have seven threes which equals 21. Write seven above the 2 at the top.
Seven times three equals twenty one so write 21 below the 22 and subtract to get 1.
Finally, bring down the 5 beside the 1. 3 goes into 15, 5 times. Write the number 5 above the 5.
Are we there yet? Not yet, but we’re close!
There are five threes in 15. 15 minus 15 equals 0. This means that there is no remainder.
